An open, organization-led collaboration
This project is being developed through an open, organization-led collaboration. We welcome developers, UAS professionals, communications experts, designers, researchers, testers, educators, and people bringing transferable experience from every background.
Source status
Contributor participation is open. The current prototype is privately maintained while governance, licensing, security standards, and future public repositories are established.
“Open” currently describes participation and organizational intent, not a completed public-source release. Public licensing, governance, contribution standards, and repository access will be announced when they are ready.
Principles
How we work
Open participation
Anyone can apply to contribute. Transferable experience counts, and there is no requirement to have worked in aviation before.
Operational honesty
The project describes itself accurately: a prototype and concept build, not a certified or production system.
Safety-aware framing
Nothing produced here grants airworthiness, release authority, or flight authorization. Programs remain responsible for their own obligations.
Local-first data
Operator data belongs to the operator. The prototype's design assumes local ownership rather than mandatory cloud storage.
Documented decisions
Design and process decisions are written down so contributors can join without private context.
Governance direction
What is being established
- A published license for future public code and documentation.
- A contribution process with review standards and maintainer roles.
- Security standards covering disclosure, dependency review, and data handling.
- A decision record so direction changes are traceable.
- A public repository once licensing and security review are complete.
Expectations
What contributors agree to
- Work in the open with the coordination channels shared after your application is reviewed.
- Respect the prototype framing in public communication about the project.
- Do not submit proprietary, classified, export-controlled, or otherwise restricted material.
- Follow security and privacy practices for any data handled during testing.
- Attribute work accurately and disclose conflicts of interest.
