Why this project exists

Small UAS programs grew faster than their record-keeping. Maintenance history ended up scattered across shifts and spreadsheets, while readiness answers depended on whoever happened to be present. This prototype explores what happens when the aircraft itself carries its record.

The UAS Mission Maintenance Tracker began as a concept build: model the way maintenance conditions, mission events, parts status, operator qualification, and readiness checks connect to a single unmanned aircraft, then test whether that structure holds up against how programs actually operate.

It deliberately includes profiles that traditional maintenance systems handle poorly: FPV airframes, disposable lots, and one-way missions where expenditure is a normal outcome rather than an incident.

Accuracy over marketing

The project describes what it is: a prototype exploring a maintenance continuity model.

Operator ownership

Data belongs to the program that produced it. Local-first is a commitment, not a fallback.

Inclusive contribution

Transferable experience is valued. Contributors do not need an aviation background to help.

Neutral applicability

Built for commercial, industrial, research, emergency-response, educational, and public-safety use.

Current status

Where the prototype stands

A working interactive demo runs in the browser on synthetic sample data. The desktop application provides encrypted workspace files, persistence, and native exports. Neither is certified, production-ready, an official maintenance authority, nor a provider of flight authorization.

Contributor participation is open. The current prototype is privately maintained while governance, licensing, security standards, and future public repositories are established.
